Getting Ready – August 21, 2012
Today was the last group class at Ambition Athletics before I begin the RKC on Friday. I’m feeling ready, excited, and happy.
I feel like I have come a long way in these past few months. When I started preparing I was only swinging a 24kg kettlebell – and it felt kinda heavy. Pressing the 24kg was a definite challenge and I hadn’t even tried a Turkish Getup with that weight.
With a continual focus on building strength, keeping it simple – never really going pass a 80% effort – I was able to build some solid strength.
I have cleaned and pressed double 32kg kettlebells. I have done 48kg swings during a finisher (5 minutes timeframe, work 20 seconds, rest 30 seconds). And I’ve completed 100 snatches with a 24kg.
Now I get to apply all my training over the last 3+ months to 3 days at the RKC this weekend.
I have been so focused on the 5 minute snatch test that I have almost forgotten about all the other hours of learning that I will be exposed to this weekend.
I am excited for all of it!
