Some Time Away – August 11-12, 2012
Saturday was another Team Challenge practice. We met at Coronado Island for a bike-run brick practice. I rode for about 50 minutes and was able to get 12 miles in on the bike. After that I walked for 5 minutes out then ran back.
After the week’s training at Ambition Athletics the bike ride and easy walk/run was a nice recovery session. I left feeling better than I did before I started and was looking forward to the rest of the day.
It was very warm and humid (for San Diego) and I really enjoyed spending the next few hours relaxing and eating a big breakfast.
- Organic omega-3 scrambled eggs (about 4-5)
- Organic bacon (4 pieces…and I loved every single one)
- Pint of organic blueberries
- and a tall Americano from Starbuck’s
the day could have been over at this point and I’d have been happy.
Later that day I met up with my girlfriend and some friends to play disk golf. It was our first time and it was a blast – actually made 3 pars and 1 birdie – pretty solid stuff
Finished the day up with another friend’s birthday party. Even stayed out till 10pm! All in all it was a very fun day and a nice short break from the mental and physical RKC preparation.
Sunday was supposed to start with me teachingĀ a 8am yoga/”tune up” class but due to a scheduling mix up I wasn’t needed to teach the class. Instead – and since I was already up – I went for an easy walk around Balboa Park. Had another really great breakfast after that – very similar to Saturday’s breakfast.
Later that day I was able to make it out to the beach with my girlfriend. Spent a fun afternoon out in the water and relaxing on the sand.
I went to bed Sunday night feeling happy, strong, and excited to start another week in preparation for my RKC!
